People’s Bank renowned as the bank of the aspiring people of Sri Lanka announced the appointment of P V Pathirana as their new CEO/General Manager. He undertook his duties on January 19, 2009, following a religious ceremony that was held with the attendance of W Karunajeewa, Chairman, Peo-ple’s Bank and a host of other distinguished officials.
P V Pathirana who has 37 years of work experience at People’s Bank, is a BSc Graduate in Business Administration and a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (FIBSL). He also holds a Diploma in Bank Management from the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka.
The new CEO/GM has had an illustrious career at People’s Bank, holding a diverse range of posi-tions that helped him garner the experience as well as the expertise needed to steer the bank into a prosperous future. In 2008, he held the position of Senior Deputy General Manager-Business Support and Productivity Management where he also headed Human Resources development. He was the Deputy General Manager-Development Credit in 2004 and the Assistant General Manager-Grade where he was in the forefront of implementing Micro Finance and Development Banking.
