SilkAir has decided to acquire 18 Airbus aircraft (8 on firm order and 10 on option) to bolster its fleet.
The firm order of 5 A320’s and A319’s is worth about US$420 million. The optional order of any of the A320 aircraft is worth US$560 million. The first delivery is scheduled for September 1998.
The new aircraft will be powered by V2500-A5 engines manufactured by International Aero Engines.
Currently 6 Boeing 737-300 and 2 Fokker 70 aircraft are being used by SilkAir.
