People’s Leasing and Finance provided their contribution for the installation of the waste segregation bins in Sigiriya Rock Fortressin Dambulla on a need identified under the guidance of the Central Cultural Fund jointly with Department of Archeology in Dambulla, Dambulla Pradeshiya Sabha and MOH Office- Dambulla as one of their Environmental Conservation responsibility initiative.
The project was initiated in accordance with a concept by Shamindra Marcelline, CEO/GM, People’s Leasing Company. The primary objective of this initiative is to create a proper waste disposal system to preserve our country’s ancient world heritage sites and assisting in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The established waste bins with the awareness boards were handed over to the general public by Susil Priyantha, Assistant Regional Manager of People’s Leasing & Finance; Upul Nishantha, Project Manager of Sigiriya project in Central Cultural Fund in Dambulla, Dhanuka Udayanaga, Assistant Director, Department of Archeology in Dambulla, Senevirathne-Secretary of Dambulla Pradeshiya Sabha, Dayantha Weerasekara – Medical Officer of Health, Dambulla and Wasantha Kumara – Public Health Inspector, Dambulla.
Hishan Welmilla, Manager – Marketing, Communication and Sustainability, People’s Leasing, Chathuranga Nagodavithana, Branch Manager of People’s Leasing Dambulla Branch, A.I Ahamed from Dambulla Pradeshiya Sabha, Sajith Wijesooriya from Central Cultural Fund and other representatives from People’s Leasing Dambulla Branch were also presented at this event.
Waste Management involves the regular collection, transportation, processing, disposal or recycling and monitoring of different types of waste materials. Through proper management of the waste segregation, we can save a considerable amount of money and prevent the environment from being harmed.
