Lankan Jewels steal the show in Tokyo

The International Jewellery Tokyo (IJT) ’96 exhibition was held recently in Japan where 9 Sri Lankan companies clinched orders worth Rs.25 million (for jewellery). Currently, negotiations are under way for jewellery worth Rs.75 million. The Export Department Board with assistance from the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) organised this third partieipation at IJT, Tokyo. Seven of the nine participating Sri Lankan companies presented a collection of coloured gem stone studded jewellery, while gold was offered by one company and platinum jewellery by the other, for the first time.
