Bank of Ceylon won four of the world’s most prestigious awards for its 2006 annual report. Bank of Ceylon won 3 major awards including a Platinum at the annual international 2006 Vision Awards, competing against 2,500 entries from 21 countries. In the prestigious annual international ARC Awards, Bank of Ceylon won a Gold Award, competing against 1,900 entries from 26 countries, submitted by some 800 different companies representing over 200 industries.
The ARC Awards, considered to be the ‘Academy Awards of annual reports’, is the largest and the most prestigious out of more than one hundred annual report competitions held every year. A distinguished panel of renowned judges from eight countries evaluated 1,900 entries for ARC Awards in different categories. At the ceremony, 25% of the top scoring entries won honours of some kind with the best entries with average scores above 92% receiving Gold Awards.

Dr. Gamini Wickramasinghe, Chairman, Bank of Ceylon said, “It was a rare privilege and a very great honour to receive the highest international acclaim for our annual report, competing for the very first time against the best companies from all over the world. I was happy to see Sri Lanka’s Commercial Bank winning silver and National Savings Bank winning a Bronze Award.”
The 2006 Vision Awards are an equally renowned and prestigious competition for annual reports, organised by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) and is judged by a team of professionals. Different competition classes give companies in different activity sectors with different levels of expressible creativity, equal chances of winning.
Competing for LACP’s Vision Awards in the category, Banks – Commercial with annual revenue up to US$ 1 bn, Bank of Ceylon’s annual report scored 97 out of a total of 100, becoming the winner of the top Platinum Award. Bank of Ceylon won the Bronze Award for Best Report Financials, and came in 37th position in the world’s top 100 annual reports of 2006.
