Colombo Courtyard, a boutique hotel in the heart of the capital city, opened its doors for guests recently. The design concept of the hotel fuses contemporary forms with environmental design. Recycled materials have been used throughout the hotel. For example, a sculpture of a tree, created almost entirely out of bicycle handles, rises from the ground floor to the top floor along the stairwell.
The hotel includes a comfortable lobby area and also a courtyard with a plunge pool. The courtyard radiates a middle eastern feel with its ornate lanterns and ambient lighting.
The Colombo Courtyard features a range of dining options: the Scarlet Room, the Loft Lounge Bar and the Cloud Cafe. The Scarlet Room exudes a relaxing aura and serves European cuisine, especially Mediterranean dishes. A collection of photographs that capture the myriad happenings and moods of
Sri Lanka adorns a scarlet-red wall of the restaurant.
The Loft Lounge Bar is an industrial-style bar with recycled material used for the furnishings. Tractor seats create unconventional bar stools and the muted lighting creates a laid back atmosphere. On the rooftop of Colombo Courtyard, the Cloud Cafe is an outdoor venue, where visitors can enjoy soft breezes and the sounds of lounge music.
