Diesel & Motor Engineering (DIMO) was declared the most transparent and accountable business entity with the Overall Winner Award presented at the ACCA Sri Lanka Sustainability Reporting Awards 2014. DIMO achieved this illustrious accolade competing with over 70 private and public quoted entities. The prestigious ACCA Sustainability Reporting Award is endorsed by the Ministry of Environment and the Global Compact Network Ceylon. The award gave due recognition to DIMO’s efforts to present a comprehensive account of the economic, social and environmental impacts that are generated by the Company’s activities and the manner in which the company has discharged its responsibilities in these three domains.
Ranjith Pandithage, Chairman and Managing Director of DIMO on accepting the Overall Winner Award said, “this validates our endeavour to report in as fair and transparent manner as possible, presenting both negative and positive aspects without bias. DIMO worked towards its fourth integrated Annual Report in the financial year 2013/14. The theme of “Var – ri – ga” that symbolises the DIMO Tribe’s kinship and sense of community is captured throughout the entire report highlighting the 75 years of DIMO’s business excellence. The theme embodies DIMO’s enduring testament to the strength of its heritage, the vision of its forefathers, the leadership and the passion of the DIMO Tribe.
The integrated reporting methodology followed revolves around its unique value creation model with capital and value-creation activities discussed in different sections of the report together with strategies. DIMO has supplemented these with candid disclosures of the Company’s corporate governance processes and approach to risk management.
DIMO was one of the first amongst 107 companies that were involved in the International Integrated Reporting Committee (IIRC) Pilot Programme. This has aided the organisation to be at the forefront of establishing a true framework for integrated reporting. The organisation has since progressed to Business Network status. DIMO’s corporate reporting is prepared in accordance with the GRI-G4 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines (comprehensive), the fourth generation of guidelines from GRI.
