21/4 We Care, a tribute concert in memory of the victims of the Easter Sunday attacks, was held with the participation of over 20 artists and a houseful of audience. An idea by Dinesh Weerakkody, Chairman, International Chamber of Commerce, the concert was aptly named ‘21/4 We Care,’ aimed at raising funds to offer scholarships for 21 identified children who were orphaned by the tragic incident.

Musicians hailing from diverse backgrounds added color to the evening, while a multitude of Sri Lankan artists of different genres and of international fame captivated the audience. Among the over 20 performers were Kishani Jayasinghe, Rookantha Gunathilake, Alston Koch, De Lanerolle Brothers, Randhir Vithana, Old Joes Choir and many more, who performed free of charge. Friends in Harmony provided the music. In true Sri Lankan spirit of generosity, BMICH provided the main conference hall and its facilities, free of charge for the concert
Clergy representing the religious communities in the country were in attendance, marking the event as a unified attempt at solidarity and togetherness. National flags in the premises invoked national pride, as the concert initiated with songs that evoked love for the country and brotherhood.
The song lineup itself was inspiring, with performances that impressed and engaged the audience. They actively took part in the performances by singing choruses along with artists and lighting up the auditorium in solidarity.
All proceeds from the concert are directed to respective bank accounts of the identified children in need of support, and they will be able to access it directly once they are 18 years of age.
