Melwire Group of Companies’ CSR arm, Melwa Foundation undertook the construction of Suraksha Children’s Center in the Negombo District General Hospital.
Melwa being a 100 percent Sri Lankan family-owned company, is into the steel industry and has invested in pharmaceutical, hospitality and leisure sectors too. The Group had contributed an amount of 200 million rupees for this worthy cause.
The ground and first floors of this building consist of two wards with over 50 beds each. Each ward is equipped with beds, fans, and stainless steel cupboards for individual patients. In addition to the in-house facilities, it has a play area for the children and special facilities for the doctors and nurses.

A vibrant-colored fish-tank is the highlight of the expansive lobby, and all entry area walls are adorned with large cartoon paintings of animals and nature. The second floor has a child development clinic, where the required therapy and other interventions are provided
The public as well as the medical specialists at the Negombo District General Hospital emphasized that this had been a long-felt need for the area and thanked the Melwa Group for their noble contribution. Melwa Group has also taken on the responsibility of the long-term maintenance of the Center.
