Fueled by a strong desire to contribute towards encouraging and uplifting entrepreneurship in Sri Lanka, Seylan Bank con-ducted several educational seminars, steering passionate entre-preneur empowerment for the SME sector across Sri Lanka.
In order to enhance financial literacy and build awareness on the challenges of entrepreneur-ship and how to tackle them, Seylan Bank conducted several seminars and workshops in Tissamaharama, Beliatta, and Siyambalanduwa with nearly 400 participants. These work-shops were aimed at the farm-ing community and SMEs. Participants were also advised on the types of skills that would nurture a mindset required to establish a successful business.
Furthermore, comprehensive seminars on entrepreneurship and navigating through the challenges within the current macroeconomic climate were held in Kandy and Ampara. The Kandy program was held in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Central Province. The par-ticipants were addressed by Hasitha Wijesundara, a senior economist and business devel-opment professional.
Seylan Bank’s efforts aim to reduce the high fall out rate faced by this sector. By provid-ing guidance, mentorship, and specialized training, the Bank aims to secure the success of SMEs across the island.
The Bank had also sponsored seminars on the Development of Exporters, conducted by the SME Development Section of Gampaha Divisional Secretariat, and a seminar on Tax Implica-tions: VAT and NBT organized by the Chamber of Commerce.
