Nestlé Lanka secured number 16 together with Chevron Lubricants Lanka in the Business Today TOP TWENTY ranking. The company had focused on restoring volume growth while being fully aligned with the Nestle model.
As reported by the company, Nestlé Lanka remains the Island's largest private sector collector of fresh milk. Nine new chilling centres and 62 new collection points had been opened in the East during the period of June-December 2009.
The company achieved a turnover of 19.4 billion rupees, which translates to growth of 1.7 percent. Gross profit grew by approximately 12 percent due to favourable product mix, efficient sourcing and prudent cost control measures, the profit after tax declined marginally due to the imposition of the Nation Building tax.
Exports to the Maldives experienced strong turnover growth during the financial year. Progress was made in developing new overseas customers for MAGGI coconut milk powder.
Consumer centricity, faster innovation and renovation, strengthened brand communication, improved execution in the field and reward success based on growth, the five point strategy of Nestlé Lanka will undoubtedly take it forward.
